This week has been filled with Mac-based gaming news. First there was the official announcement of Valve porting its games and its Steam download client to the Mac. Then the possible prospect of porting Battlefield Bad Company 2 to the Mac was brought up by its developer. Now developer Icarus Studios has announced that their MMO platform has been ported to Mac OS X.

As a consequence, the MMO that uses their tech, the post-apocalypse themed game Fallen Earth, now has a free 10 day trial available to download now for the Mac which requires Intel-based Macintosh machines to work. The 5.1 GB client uses the Wine open source software to port the game to the Mac. Mac and PC players of Fallen Earth will be able to play in the same servers.

If you take a look that new screens, the top three, for Empire Craft 2, you can see that it is a major graphical update from the old school 16 bit graphics.  It’s actually looks pretty good.

This is the playable demo for Clover: A Curious Tale, an independently developed platform puzzle adventure game. Those that enjoy the demo have the option to purchase the full version.

These three developer videos for Splinter Cell Conviction, narrated by Game Director Patrick Redding, take viewers through all the multiplayer features that will included in the game. Multiplayer includes an entire cooperative campaign that cover events that occur before the single player story. There will be four game modes called “Deniable Ops” that include Hunter, Infiltration, Last Stand and Face Off. These additional game modes have scenarios where players can either work together or against one another. Old school Splinter Cell fans may be interested in checking out the Infiltration Deniable Op, which relies heavily on stealth in order for the team to eliminate all targets. Furthermore, players can outfit their multiplayer characters with new gear as they progress and complete different challenges using the Persistent Elite Creation system.
